Tide Lines concert raises over £30,000 for RNLI Aberdeen

It was a big 'thank you' from local people as RNLI Aberdeen received over £30,000 from the special Tide Lines Tall Ships Quayside Concert held on Sunday.
The Scottish indie-folk band handed over a cheque for £30,949.14 in person to Fiona Anderson, the station’s Volunteer Lifeboat Management Group Chair.
The concert, held in Peterson Seabase with Calum Bowie in support, had been staged as a thank you to the people of Aberdeen for their support of the Tall Ships Races.
Proceeds from the minimum £5.00 online donation went to support the RNLI, allowing concert-goers to say thank you to their local volunteer lifeboat crews whose work is so critical to water safety in Aberdeen.
The tickets were quickly snapped up for a sell-out show, with gig-goers praising the on-stage energy of the band, citing the amazing connection the group had with the public. Banchory-born singer-songwriter Calum Bowie was particularly warmly received by the home crowd.
“We are so thankful to the Tall Ships Race Aberdeen and the artists for offering the proceeds of this charity concert to Aberdeen RNLI Lifeboat Station.”
Fiona Anderson continued: “Last year in Scotland, RNLI lifeboats launched 1,182 times, aided 881 people and saved the lives of 36 people. The money donated from this concert will go towards keeping our lifeboats and other lifesaving services afloat, and for that, Aberdeen RNLI Lifeboat Station and the wider RNLI are truly thankful!”
The RNLI is an organisation which shares common ground with the Tall Ships event, with its reliance on a strong team of volunteers.
Aberdeen RNLI is the only city-based station in Scotland, situated in the large commercial port close to the popular beachfront.
