North Pier
Port of Aberdeen reopened its historic North Pier earlier this year and thousands of people have already visited the site.
Our priority is always safety and this means that sometimes we need to close the pier at short notice, or it may not open at all. We know this can be disappointing, but we ask for your patience and understanding, and to treat our team with respect.

Frequently Asked Questions
To help address this, and other queries that have been raised, please read the following FAQs.
-
Why was North Pier closed during opening hours?
We aim to open North Pier between 7.00am and 7.00pm from April to September. However, opening is reviewed daily by our team and sometimes the pier may might not open or close early. This could be due to factors such as weather conditions, or operational requirements.

-
Why was I asked to leave when the pier was open?
We may need to close North Pier without prior notice, for example due to an actual or forecast change in weather conditions. It’s an exposed part of the port and conditions can vary greatly from inshore.
We appreciate your cooperation in leaving safely and treating our team respectfully when they are clearing the site.
