Port of Aberdeen commissions local artist to commemorate The Tall Ships Races Aberdeen 2025

Port of Aberdeen, a host partner of The Tall Ships Races Aberdeen 2025, has commissioned local artist Clive Ramage to create an artwork inspired by the four-day maritime celebration held in Aberdeen from 19 – 22 July 2025.
Ramage, who is self-taught and has been working as an artist since 2008, will produce a special large-scale oil painting that will capture the pride, excitement and spectacle of the event, which drew 50 international ships and more than 400,000 visits to the city.
The event’s host partners – Aberdeen City Council, Port of Aberdeen and Aberdeen Inspired – celebrated the four-day festival as a major success, boosting the local economy and inspiring renewed pride in the city, with highlights ranging from sold-out Quayside Concerts to the thrilling Red Arrows display.

Speaking about the commission, Ramage said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have been awarded the Tall Ships commission by Port of Aberdeen. The arrival of the Tall Ships in July was without doubt the highlight of my five years living in Aberdeen.
“It’s a huge honour and a privilege to be involved in celebrating such a special event and I can’t wait to get started on the painting.”
The commemorative piece will be completed in early 2026, serving as a creative legacy of The Tall Ships Races Aberdeen 2025, ensuring the memories of the event are celebrated for years to come.
Port of Aberdeen CEO Bob Sanguinetti DL said: “We are excited to commission local artist Clive Ramage to capture the spirit of The Tall Ships Races Aberdeen 2025.
“Clive’s passion for capturing the mood and energy of the places that inspire him made him the perfect artist for this project, and his artwork will stand as a lasting tribute to the unforgettable moments of the four-day event.”
