Cameras captured the UK's largest operational shore power system which allows vessels to connect to the grid and run on the port's renewable electricity tariff rather than burning diesel at berth.

The technology reduces harmful emissions, cuts noise pollution, and improves air quality for the surrounding area -  benefits the BBC segment explored in detail with Benji Morrison, Harbour Master, and Holly Allan, Innovation Project manager.

Shore power is central to Port of Aberdeen's ambition to become the UK's first net zero port by 2040, and the feature highlighted the port's intention to extend the programme to additional berths in the future.
