Leading the energy transition

Aberdeen Harbour responds to the Chancellor's March 2021 Budget.

In response to the Chanellor's announcement of funding for Aberdeen's Energy Transition Zone, Chief Executive Michelle Handforth said:

“The Chancellor’s announcement of funding will help to underpin our region as a leader in the energy transition, taking hold of the many opportunities it presents.”

“Our aims to bring prosperity to the North East of Scotland through investment opportunities and jobs are quickly becoming a reality, and we will continue to work with our partners and stakeholders to ensure our experienced and skilled supply chain and world-class infrastructure are ready for the opportunities that lie ahead.

“As in the 1960s oil boom, our port will be critical to the success of the Energy Transition Zone and the development of the offshore renewables, hydrogen and carbon capture and storage industries. We look forward to the construction of South Harbour continuing at pace this year, as the energy transition builds momentum.”
