Supporting Spirit Energy’s major North Sea decommissioning campaign

Port of Aberdeen supported Spirit Energy’s successful £40 million decommissioning operation in UK waters, which combined multiple operations within a single campaign to plug and abandon (P&A) three subsea wells and remove more than 234 tonnes of subsea infrastructure.

Working alongside more than 30 UK supply chain partners, including Port of Aberdeen, DeepOcean and Well-Safe Solutions, Spirit Energy safely and successfully delivered key P&A activities on the Seven Seas and Grove G5 production wells, and the Grove Deep exploration well, located in the UK Southern North Sea between April and July 2026.
