

Marine Support Staff (six-month fixed-term contract)
Reports To: Deputy Harbour Master
Role: Full-time (37 hours per week, Monday to Friday)
Salary: £41,290 per annum

Port of Aberdeen has a fantastic opportunity for a positive and proactive Marine Support Staff to join the port's Marine Department to conduct a range of duties in assisting with the safe operation of Port of Aberdeen's Pilot Cutters and Workboat. The successful candidate will have great work ethic, a can do attitude, and values that align to the mission of the port in delivering operational excellence to our customers in a safe and sustainable way.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with supervision of the Port’s assets including cleanliness of quays and the reporting of damage.
- Assist Deputy Harbour Master with ad hoc duties as required, such as risk assessments, life jackets.
- Respond to instructions from and provide on the ground support to Harbour Masters and VTS.
- Assist in the general maintenance of Harbour craft and equipment and ensure a safe and clean working environment onboard the craft.
- Assist in oil pollution response.
- Assist in the collection of debris and other items from Harbour waters.
- Act as Coxswain or Deck Hand of Harbour craft for hydrographic work.
- Act as Coxswain or Deck Hand of Harbour craft for bed levelling and plough dredging work.
- Act as Coxswain or Deck Hand of Harbour craft for general duties and VIP trips.
- Be prepared to train as a Pilot Cutter Coxswain.
- Respond to security incidents as required.
- Participate in regular emergency exercises and other training events to ensure good individual levels of knowledge, experience and training
- Attend training to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
- Attend to, as and when required, incidents or emergency situations within the Harbour Estate.
- Provide holiday, sickness and operational cover for Pilot Cutter.
