

Senior Accountant
Location: Aberdeen
Role: Full time, 36.5 hours
Salary: Up to £59,500 per annum dependent on experience

We’re looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team and work closely with our Financial Controller. This is a hands-on role where you’ll get involved in all aspects of day-to-day accounting, help keep things running smoothly at month-end, and play an important part in making sure our finances are accurate and well managed.
Main responsibilities include:
- Supervision of Accounts Assistant with processing of invoices, employee expenses and reconciling petty cash and credit cards
- Preparation, processing and submission of monthly payroll
- Overseeing the purchase ledger through to monthly closure
- Assisting the Financial Controller with the preparation and production of timely and accurate monthly management accounts, running monthly profit/loss reports, variance analysis and other various month end reports
- Completion of bank and balance sheet reconciliation
- Manage all transactions associated with the Aberdeen Harbour Board Retirement Benefits Scheme Pension
Skills, experience and qualifications
- Relevant experience of working in a similar accountancy role
- Qualified/part qualified and working towards accounting qualification (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, ICAS)
- Knowledge of RTI/PAYE/NIC and pensions regulations
- Knowledge and experience of accounts practices and procedures
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with a discrete and confidential approach
- Strong planning and organisational skills and able to work to deadlines
- High level of accuracy, numeracy and attention to detail
- Ability to take initiative and a practical approach to problem solving
- Positive and flexible approach to work
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software
- Good customer service attitude
